Did you know the Fairgrounds Farmers Market (formerly Dixie Classic Farmers Market) is the longest-running farmers market in Forsyth County? Yep, it’s a fact Jack. Celebrating their 43rd anniversary this year, the Fairgrounds Market has been a source for locally produced foods since 1974. Head west to one of Forsyth County’s most favorite public parks to support farmers and producers from Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Guildford, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry and Yadkin counties. Plan to head over early to walk, run or bike the Tanglewood Park trails or stay later for some family picnic time.

>> 3rd Annual Rainbow Run 5k – Running with Pride WS
Presented by The Adam Foundation, the race starts and end at Washington Perk on Acadia Ave and will have you running through the historic streets of Washington Park. Find the race map here and don’t forget to stay for post-race awards for all age groups plus Best Male Pride Attire and Best Female Pride Attire. Then head over to Swaims & Washington Perk for their annual spring festival featuring friends, food, music and games.

>> 16th Annual Bethabara Highland Games and Celtic Music Festival
Grab your kilts and clan and head to Historic Bethabara Park for some heavy throwing, bagpipes, Irish dancing, storytelling, and more. The Bethabara Highland Games are held to pay respect to the heritage of the early Scots and Scotch-Irish pioneers who helped and guided the Moravians in their settlement of “der Wachau”, the Wachovia tract. The funked-out flea formerly known as Hoots Flea is back at West End Millworks. @ Winston-Salem Fairgrounds & Annex
>> Third Annual Triad Dog Park Games
A two-day fundraising event benefiting The Sergei Foundation. Established in 2009, The Sergei Foundation is a North Carolina 501(c)(3) organization that has kept hundreds of pets with their owners by assisting financially with emergency-level vet care or one-time sicknesses or injuries that would be inhumane if left untreated. Triad Dog Park Games is the only major fundraiser to support their cause. Expect loads of four-legged friends dazzling you in competitions like flyball, disc dog, and dock jumping along with agility 101 training to get your pooch in on the action.
(Saturday: 10a – 4p / required minimum donation of $6/person upon entry / kids 10 and under FREE)

Sunday, May 15th

@ Juggheads Growlers and Pints
>> One Year Anniversary Bash
Juggheads is celebrating ONE happy year in business with an epic day-long bash. Doors open at 2pm with FREE BBQ from a local award-winning pit master until 3p. ALL beers will be discounted. Most pints will be $4 and all cans and bottles will be 15% off. Plus music! Two long sets by Winston-Salem’s own Marvelous Funkshun from 3p – 6p. Get in the spirit with a quick listen here. @ Tanglewood Park
>> The Arts Council Summer Parks Series presents “Film and Dance”
This free event kicks off with an opening act by the professional dancers of Fred Astaire Dance in Winston-Salem performing live with a tribute to dance on the silver screen. Riverrun International Film Festival will show the movie, Strictly Ballroom, a romantic comedy directed by Baz Luhrmann about an Australian championship ballroom dancer who wants to dance “his own steps”.
